Can anyone recommend a quiet place with no late night parties or loud music or anything for familes with small children and babies? Ours will be 1 and a half if we go in April. We're looking at Ko Pha Ngan but are open to other places. Thanks!

Bottle beach north KPG is one of the quieter places.

There are a few quiet beaches on Phangan's east coast, between Haad Rin and Thong Nai Pan. Try Haad Wai Nam, Haad Yao, or even Haad Sadet. The boat from Mae Nam on Samui to Thong Nai Pan Noi stops in at most of these small beaches along the way.

My husband and I went to Ko Pha Ngan two years ago and we really like it. We didn't have kids with us but we found the north - east cost very calm and I think it could be a good place for families. That part of the island is very different from the south-west, nothing to do with it! I aslo liked much more the beaches and the sea for snorkelling. Be aware there are some beaches on the east which are very difficult to reach by car, so I think it's a bit complicated when you have kids. That's why I would suggest you Ao Chalok Lam. Then from there you can do escursion to the near beaches. Have a nice holiday!

i would say than sadet or mae haad on koh phangan... it would be best to rent a jeep while you are there to get around.

Yes, Sadet and Bottle are quiet, but getting babies and small children there could be a problem.
I'd suggest Hat Yao as a starter, and go northward if that doesn't work out.

Absolutely Than Sadet at MaiPenRai Bungalows - been there 4 or 5 times in the last 13 months and the front 5 or 6 "right on the beach" bungalows are frequently full of parents with toddlers and small kids.

As they are on the beach there is nothing for them to fall off (balconies etc). The whole beach is in view so there is nowhere to lose sight of them. The owner (a Scot ex pat) has a flock of children, including little ones so it is very family friendly.

Obviously quiet, no banging parties, maybe soothing reggae in the main restaurant.

Google MaipenRai Than Sadet for the site or email the owner - Fiona at maipenrai@thansadet.com - she's very helpful and will answer any questions / fears you have

Mai Pen Rai has a web site www.thansadet.com. Plenty of photos.
Just be aware that the number of beach front huts is quite limited, and anything away from the beach would, IMO, not be suitable for small kids. Access to huts on the rocks, or across the bridge is quite dangerous ( IMO ), even for adults.
If you really want to stay there ( I love it myself ) check with Fiona that there is suitable accomodation available before going, as it's a hell of a trip on the road ( which is why it's so nice- keeps the flashpackers away ).

When you say it's a hell of a trip on the road, what do you mean exactly? Do you get a taxi or car and it's really bumpy? Would it be dangerous with a baby in the car and no seatbelts or car seats? Or is it so bumpy you go realy slow and then it's not dangerous because you wouldn't really crash?
