BangkokBoy, when I said that "ALL nationalities are checked for visa requirements" I meant that checks are made to make sure any nationals NOT eligible for 30 days visa exemption have the necessary visa prior to departure. Nothing more.
I do not need to reconcile my statements, the onward travel rule is obviously not a requirement at the present time. The airline is fined $3000 - $8000 per passenger should entry be refused so at those sort of prices believe me the airline would be the first to know and the first to enforce any changes in immigration rules. Thai Airways is a stickler for the 6 month passport validity on arrival, 1 day short and you will not be allowed to board, we deny boarding almost on a daily basis for this reason.
I don't make the rules, I just thought it might be helpful to pass on how it all works in practice.
