Hi

We will be in Phuket in late November, and we're planning on visiting the islands of Ko Phi Phi for a few days. We have a flight back to London from Bangkok on the 6th December, so we would like to get the boat back from Ko Phi Phi to either Phuket or Krabi in order to get an AirAsia flight back up to Bangkok, ready for our flight back to London the next day.

Could anyone advise as to which of the two is closer to Phi Phi? Phuket or Krabi in terms of the boat journey time (then hopefully a quick transfer to one of the airports)? Also, how often are the ferries to both destinations from the Phi Phi islands?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Both are pretty much equidistant from Phi Phi, but Krabi airport is closer to the pier 20m v 35 to 60 depending on traffic. However Phuket has many more flights.
The Phuket run has more ferries, but because they sail around the same time, not really more times of departure.
I have a ferry timetable link from Andaman Island hopping on my Krabi and Phi Phi page in the first link below and a more comprehensive one for the Phuket run on the Phuket page.
Don't cut your run too fine - ferries do at times get slowed or sail late.

If you want something a bit special (not cheap) you can even fly to Phi Phi from Phuket...

Agree with the previous post. Both distances are pretty similar, and it is a lot easier to travel back to Phuket with more options for departure time (from PP).

However, so you don't 'backtrack' it may be worthwhile to continue across to Krabi. It is always nice to try continue on a constant path, so I would recommend continuing on to Krabi. And if you can time it with a day or 2 to spare, there are some fine sights to see in the area.

Thanks for your replies.

Looks like we've decided to get the boat back to Phuket and fly from there up to BKK as the choice of flights are you rightly say is much better, and the boats more frequent.

Thanks again.
