Phuket - Phi Phi - Lanta - Krabi - Khao Lak - Phuket

After leaving Phuket in March, I plan to visit Koh Lanta, Krabi y Khao Lak.

This is my idea, but I don't know if it is realistic:
1.- Take a Ferry Phuket-Phi Phi. Arrive in the morning. Spend one night.
2.- Take a Ferry Phi Phi - Lanta. Spend a couple of nights.
3.- Take a Ferry Lanta - Krabi. Spend 3 nights
4.- Take a bus Krabi - Khao Lak. Spend 1 night in Khao Lak and 1 night in Khao Sok.
5.- Take a bus Khao Lak - Phuket.

  • The number of nights are not established, but just an orientation... It's more or less the times I've been recommended.
  • I am not sure that there is a bus Krabi-Khao Lak... somebody can confirm???
  • I don't like much to go on tours, but I've heard that Khao Sok is worth it. Somebody can confirm???

Idea YES ! Realistic NO! Read up on the numerous scams and various problems you likely will encounter before you come on the web. As far as tours, YUK!. But hey go for it something you won,t so forget. Make sure you bring a ring for your nose and lots of cash your going to need it. Just a small warning.

Your agenda is possible and there are a variety of ways to get from Krabi to Khao Lak and/or Khao Sok, including public bus, minivan, or private taxi. The taxi will be faster and more comfortable, but will also cost the most.

The agenda does however feel very busy, and it seems like you will spend a lot of your time in transit from place to place rather than relaxing and enjoying your time at a slower pace. Only one day in Khao Sok for example seems like a waste given that you will spend almost as much time getting to/from there.

If it were me I would probably trim either Phi Phi/Lanta off this list or Khao Sok/Khao Lak and spend the time getting a little more out of the places left on the list.

I'd like to second what thaiwanderer tells you. Your itinerary sounds rushed at best. Your time in each location is less than minimal. I would aim for 3 nights as a minimum in any location. Slow down to see more.

Ever thought of signing up for The Amazing Race seen weekly on CBS tv ? Never understood these marathon travelers. If i were you if possible i would chop Phuket off the list. I hope you enjoy paying 400 baht every time you decide to move from one place to another. This is just one of numerous scams you will encounter. I hope that you enjoy having to play games from the moment you awake till sleep again. Do yourself a big favor and read the Phuket Wan website. Just maybe you will have second thoughts.
