Hi, I have been to Thailand in previous years and explored a lot, but am returning this summer with the girlfriend for a couple of weeks of fun in the sun among the islands in the south. Cheapest flights were to Phuket, so i am just wondering if anyone knows what the best (cost and time) way to get straight from Phuket to Koh Samui would be (so we can work our way back from there).
Thanks for your any information
Cheers

There is only 1 good way to go there.
Ordinary bus.
Sit next to average thais.
Cheap.
Sightseeing.

Why not just stay in Phuket?
Best way to get to Samui from Phuket is to fly. If you take a bus/boat it will take all day.

flying is expensive and not the way we want to go, i prefer the travellers experience like 'divorceoyourocaro' says.
Thanks for all the info guys.

It is about 145 baht on the ordinary/2nd class bus.
Beautiful limestone karsts(cliffs)about halfway along.
Vertical whitish karst peaks in the countryside.
Plastic bus seats are sticky in the hot weather, and a piece of cardboard helps.
A piece of cardboard is not common to find before the bus ride.
Maybe ask the staff in a 7/11 store.
3 hours to the first toilet stop?
So it is a good idea to avoid drinking and eating much liquid in the 3 - 4 hours before the bus trip.
Buy the ticket on the bus after departure.
Ask the young male ticket seller what his name is( kawn cher ar lie).
Just to be friendly.
Boat leaves Surat Thani at 11pm.
Eating only raw fruits and veges is excellent for calm, energetic alertness for a better holiday.
Ordinary trains and buses are the environmentally better choice.
