We arrive at Pkt airport around 4.30pm 6th Jan and need to get to Koh lak,
How much should we be paying in a shared van, taxi, or is there a bus going that way ?
Thnx in advance for any info x

There's definitely a bus, don't know the exact cost but it's not far so I'd guess about 100 baht. I will be a bit slower than a van but safer and more comfortable.

Do these buses actually come to the airport?

I haven't been to the airport for a few years, but seem to remember it wasn't very well served by public transport. Just wondering if the OP might need to get to the main road, or even into Phuket Town.

I'm not sure, but suspect the same. The main road doesn't go past the airport and to pick up most Northbound buses, you would have to skip ~4km East to the main road. The taxi to do that will probably cost as much as the bus to Khao Lak.....?

"Khao" (mountain), not "Koh" (Island), btw

I just got back from Phuket yesterday. You need to get out to a bus stop on the main road, where you can pick up a bus. I got a lift from someone who had booked a taxi. There is an orange airport bus stop outside domestic arrivals that goes hourly into town, passing the bus station for 45 baht, and presume you could get off earlier, once on the main road. If you are prepared to walk a bit, turn right as you come out of arrivals, and walk about 800 m, and you are out of the airport, where you should be able to get a normal taxi or motorbike to a suitable bus stop. Any bus going to Ranong or Takua pa will go through Khao lak, so you shouldn't have to wait too long. I got dropped off closer to Phuket town than on my last trip, but there are lots of roadworks on the main road heading north, so assume that was why.
