Hello :)

New to the forum and this is my first post! From what I've read (quite a bit) you've all been a great help to fellow travelers, so hopefully you can help me out on this one.

My girl and me are staying in phuket for 1 night after we fly in on the 31st of july. We fly in, in the evening and wanna take the boat the next day, preferably straight to Railey beach, but if this isn't an option, to Phi Phi and stay there for a while and then go to Railey Beach.

So the question is: Can we get from Phuket to Railey beach on those dates? And what is a nice place to stay close to the where the boat takes off?

Times/ locations / piers would be even more helpful, but I'm probably asking for a lot :)

Thanks in advance.

Stay in Phuket Town the night. In the morning take a bus from the Bus Station, NOT a private tourist bus, to Krabi bus station, songtheaw to Krabi town and another to Ao Nang, from where you can get a longtail to Railay.

In Phuket you could stay at the On On Hotel. It was in The Beach.

I also have a similar question, except that I'm flying into Krabi airport instead. I want to see Koh Phi Phi, scuba dive and maybe enjoy the beaches. I haven't booked anything yet. I heard there's only one ferry to the Phi Phi islands at 9am during low season. Should I stay in Krabi Town the night I fly in and try to head out to the islands the next day? What is the best way to get there?

Thanks!

haha hijacking my thread ;)

Is it easier to go to Phi Phi first and then go to Railey beach maybe? Because the bus journey seems like it takes a lot of time..

You can get a boat direct to Phiphi from Phuket - though it will cost quite a lot more than the bus - it will be quicker - its also may or may not be running depending on the weather.

I've gone straight from Tonsai/Railay direct to Phuket on a ferry (took a few hours and I think about 600 baht in late February). How long would the bus take to get to Krabi? Seems like it would be longer, but I could be mistaken. I believe there is a direct ferry from Krabi to Railay East, though I haven't taken this myself; this would be the most direct way if you're already in Krabi, although a 30-40 minute ride to Ao Nang and 15 minute Longtail to Tonsai or Railay may be quicker.

I do believe you can arrange transport from Railay to Koh Phi Phi, there are travel agents there.

I did a little write-up on the area from my time visiting earlier this year: http://griddable.com/?p=5555</a></strong>

How, praytell, would you get from Phuket to Koh Phi Phi with a bus? Are they amphibious now?
