Phi Phi Island Tours - Express Boat or Speed Boat choice ?

Hi,

Which of the 2 do you recommend ? The Speedboat tours covers more places but much more expensive, is it worth ?

Which of the 2 is more comfortable and less likely to cause sea-sickness(during this rainy season) ?

Which is faster ? Which is safer ?

One of the hotel package offered a Express Boat Tour(VIP). Anyone know what is this VIP difference ? I phoned the hotel but no helpful info can be given and they did not reply my e-mail.

I called up one of the travel agent and being told that during this season, Speedboat tours is daily but the Express boat tours are alternate days, any truth or reason ? Is she trying to make me pay more ?

Speed boat means you spend more time at the destination but can be very uncomfortable. I have done more boat rides around Ko Chang, Maak, Kood, Wai but I have been on a few speedboats, Phuket to Phi Phi/Krabi and a slow boat Phuket to Phang Nga bay (Siam Sea Canoe). The last one much more pleasant than the speed boat. Speed is ok for short distances but can be grueling on the long haul.

Sit toward the back. The front and outside front looks nice to start but it will beat you silly up there with the boat slamming down. By back, I don't mean the last seat on the side, because that person is often squeezed into the corner very uncomfortably. If you are on the side and people board and want to avoid walking back and just sit down and scrunch everyone back.
Be sure there are a few people on the side further back than you. The very back can be good or bad depending on the motor noise and if the exhaust is being blown back on you and if the local guys are smoking next to you.

The speedboats are fun when it is not too rough, but can be somewhat dangerous in rough seas. I have been on many boats in my life, and on one of my trips from Koh Phi Phi, I seriously thought we might capsize because of the large swells. Me and a few others donned lifejackets just in case. Make sure there are lifejackets on board!

Ok thanks, I think we decide on Express Boats Tours instead of SpeedBoats. It's cheaper, safer and more comforter, making it 3 advantages aginst the SpeedBoat which has only 1, it covers more destinations.

Any objections ?
