Does anybody have any recommendations for a meditation retreat/1-2 night temple stay in Thailand? In Peru I avoided all the retreats that catered to 30+ westerners and found myself in a shaman's home with 3 other people and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Looking for something similar in Thailand.

Thanks in advance.

Will you be bringing your own translator? Or do you already speak Thai?

In response to #1

We do not speak thai, and a translator can be hired if necessary for this kind of experience.

There is a Vipaasana meditation retreat in the North ,near Chiang Mai. It may have more than 30 mediators but it is the real thing. Kind of hard to be touristic when your in complete silence (10 days ,no talking) Its rather intensive so you have to be serious. Its not a ''cave in the Himalayas with guru''experience but it is good at forming a base for an effective meditation technique.
hope you have a rewarding experience
