Need Hernia operation..

Hmm...i don't recommend a govt hospital, even though surgeons often go from govt To private. To expensive foreigner based in a kind of rotation.

I had my surgery done in Thaksin hospital in surathani... Its the best private hospital in the area.. I was told if I went to Samui it would be 15K, but in Thaksin 3k...im OK two years later..

I know of one other who had a hernia operation in Thaksin and all OK.. I did not have a hernia op!!

They give you a full quote as to what it will cost beforehand..

You can also go to hospitals specialising in foreigners, like paying for a 5 star hotel, But Imo, a hernia is pretty simple

why so much...in the states they do it as an out patient? No need to stay over night .

Then do it in the states..... As I said.. I DID NOT have a hernia op.. The point was to show differences between public and private costs.. I believe my friends was in the 1500$ range.. If you do it in another country, they do it their way....

A room for a night in Thaksin is about 100$ so it's not huge

My question to the OP is are you travelling to Thailand especially to have this operation performed?

Here in the UK I've had friends who have had hernia operation from mild to severe. The latter involving protracted hospital stays. And regardless of the severity there are follow up consultations, etc. to consider. In my own case I've noticed that Thai medical services tend towards excessive care in relation to treatment and medications than the likes of the UK. Most hospitals, like Bumrungrad, seem to have a website may be a good starting point in your investigations.
