Has anyone stayed at this place recently?

I've stayed there plenty of times, but the last was about 10 years ago.Thinking of going back next time in Bangkok.......is it still the same or has it been 'restored'?

Assume it is as cheap and basic as ever and still can't be booked in advance..just turn up and ask for a room.

Is it still popular these days, with all the new competition in the city?

Thanks Luc

It's still the same. It's still cheap. It's still overflowing with backpackers. It's still got the lousy internet cafe with the slowest speeds ever. I have always been fine with the rooms themselves though. No worries, just turn up!

Last there in Feb. Same as usual, nothing much has changed over the years except the room rate went up after we left. Wouldnt take a front room unless you were desperate but they only have a couple out the back and nigh impossible to get one of these. Internet speed I thought was okay, no worse than a lot of other places. No wifi in GH. And the owner is still making fresh bread and buns every day.

Ok thanks...I'll give it a try and see if it is really the same as before ;-)

Many years ago I used to stay in those single rooms just above the cafe/entrance,along the 'balcony'....this time I'll be with my partner so we'll try to get something a bit quieter and more private,,,,

Take one of the rooms out the back. They're much nicer and also quieter. But when we were there in Feb, we had to take one of the older rooms straight up and it was sheer hell. 2 adults, 2 packs, 2 beds and no room to swing the cat. Luckily they have a fairly high daily turnover so we were able the next day to swap rooms.
