Hi all,
I'd like to take the Thai massage course or cooking course in Thailand, I'll be in BKK or Chiang Mai, but have only two days. Where is better option, BKK or Chiang Mai? and how much for the massage course and cooking course?
thanks,
Chris

Hi,
depends where you want to be, there are good options for massage tuition in either place.....prices range from 3500baht to 8000baht per course.
Wat Pho in BKK is good providing you have a good teacher, as is the Old Medicine hospital in Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai is the spiritual center for all "Thai massage" that you see in Thailand. I spent several weeks in Chiang Mai and attended several schools there. Some take one day, others more, and one I remember took YEARS to complete. It's up to you. Stay at the 7sons hotel think they are at www.7sons.com, or something like that, but probably a Google search would find them. They are a clean cheap hotel in Chiang Mai, within the old city, right where the massage schools are located. Good luck. BTW, there is nothing I have ever experienced like the blind monk, massuese, in Chiang Mai that spent 8 hours working on my back one day. All he has done since he was 6 was study and give massage. It is the best place to learn massage in the world.

If you only have 2 days, you may be better off getting a teacher to give you one on one, there are many, many, but I have had by the hour lessons at Pians, the teacher was great.
It is located down a side lane off Khao San rd, near Susie Pub and Marco Polo guest house.
Normally the courses are a minimum of 30 hours.
Good luck!

Has anyone done a massage course at Wat Pho? I'm wanting to do a course in Thailand and am unsure of whether to do it in Bangkok or Chiang Mai.

tam...yes, i did 2 at wat pho and can really reccommend it, great style. But this time of year in BKK is getting unbearable heatwise....as posted above, the old medical hosp is also good.

Chiang mai is a far more mellow atmosphere - I really love it. I took a 1 day cooking course, just for fun. really good time actually and I learned more than I expected to from a 1 day class. Its' run by Gaps House (guesthouse type place) inside the older part of Chiang Mai, most ppl from there could direct you to it. near the east gate.
it also included a market tour which I found to be very interesting.
