Has anyone heard if the date has been announced for the Mae Jo Lantern Release in Chiang Mai for 2015?
The pay-for ($100-300) lantern launch event at Thudongkhasathan Lanna meditation center behind Mae Jo University aimed solely at tourists is on November 25th, but is sold out. As for the free/locals version that most people ask about, word on the street and social media is it won't happen this year. Anyway Loy Krathong festival is definitely Nov 24-26 with tons of activity in town including kom fye lanterns going up.

You might bear in mind the severe damage to wildlife and the environment in general caused by these floating lanterns

Where would have a person gotten tickets for this?

Is there such a thing as a festival schedule? Any idea of when it will be decided for sure that the free event will not happen this year? Also, I heard that you are not allowed to take pictures at the free event. Do you know if that is true?
Thanks!

Agencies such as cmstay and bonvoyagethailand were selling the tickets.
