#8, I think you miss my intent. I could shop, or go to the movies elsewhere, but I will go to MBK specifically because of the food court. The shopping and movies are secondary to the foodcourt meal. I make no claim as to the quality of the food ( if I want tasty food, I go to the Amarin restaurant ), rather, I go there because it's such an interesting foodcourt, with a great vibe ( and I REALLY like the sticky rice and mango ).

Tud, I'd agree about Seacon Square, except that it's so difficult to get to. If they had a skytrain station nearby I'd probably go there instead of MBK.
I used to go there in the old days when it had almost the only multiplex in town, but now of course, they're all over the place.
By the by, does the foodcourt have signs in English now?
IMO the Emporium foodcourt is too cramped for comfort, but of course, the view is excellent.

cheapest place i know for lunch are the air-con rooms around the edge of Victory Monument. 7baht a bowl for all dishes. dont blame me if you get ill after eating there though.

I cannot believe no one has mentioned Food Loft at Central Chit Lom!!! That is far and away the best in terms of quality, choice, ambience, and the location is convenient (on the BTS). Price wise for what you are getting its reasonable too.

#13, qote is from post #9. Tud doesn't agree with you, though.

I ate in Central Chit Lom yesterday at the 'Foodloft', almost 400THB for an Indian curry and a smoothie. What a total rip off. The curry was bland and tasteless and the smoothie was disappointing to say the least.

Well he had a bad curry and doesn't like the price. Too bad. I think it's great.

Yes thaibeachlover, I often recommend MBK's food court as an ice breaker for newbies in Bangkok.
It's very central, bright and pretty clean.
It's also a bit easier to figure out than many of the lesser known courts.

Putting MBK into perspective as not being a food specific destination was in response to having it voiced as the definitive food court, "no question".
I will, however, head to United or Convent simply to simply eat and head back home.

Are you refering to Amarin Foodhouse?
Ate their often when my wife worked at Gulf Air.
Pretty tasty Thai/Chinese.

Tud is talking crap as usual. Foodloft is by far the best foodcourt in Bangkok. The OP specifically didn't want the cheapest place so assume he/she isn't bothered about the price.

If you mean next to the skytrain station nearest the Erawan Shrine, then yes.
It's the only place I've found that does decent satay with peanut sauce.

PS. Does anyone know other places that do satay with peanut sauce. I'm not interested if it's just the meat on a stick. IMO it's the peanut sauce that makes it so enjoyable.

( Apologies to the OP for "borrowing" the post. )
