Look for good hostel in Patong,Karon, Kata, and phi phi

1. Patong is more tourist than Kata and Karon. Patong is good for nightlife. These 3 beachs are close together so if you stay in Kata or Karon, you still can come to Patong and enjoy the night. Kata and Karon has more beautiful beach than Patong.
2. Just take a look at www.hotelphuketthailand.net for hotels in Phuket, I am sure you will find one. Make sure you read the guest review.
3. I never stay over in Phi Phi. Only visit Phi Phi for day tour.
4. Beach is more beautiful than Phuket. 3 nights should be enough.

HOSTELS IN THAILAND

I reckon the nicest of the 3 big beaches is Kata. I've got some info incl pix in the first link below - for budget maybe check google for Peach Hill. There are some other cheapies mentioned on my page.

I want to stay at Kamala next trip and have done some research. Two cheapis get good reviews are:

Check travelfish for user reviews on these joints. I've been to Kamal but not stayed - nice beach, lots of restuarants/bars but not over the top.

Oh yeah. Phi Phi.
Best value I reckon is Phi Phi Hill. Last I saw their outside bathroom jobs with the great views were 400. Could be more now - I got a sublink on my Phi Phi page.

I'm also a fan of Ao Toh Koh (see A Slice of Paradise page) but warning - place is isolated from the action although their bar is cool high season. Might check Rock Climbing Bungalows info too.

All places are safe, clean, not very crowded.

There's a new place with dorms in town - sounds like a dive but elcheapo - someone is sure to mention the name - I can't remember.

for that last-try hostelworld and those sites-as here around Silom/BKK-most charge for a BED in a dorm (not crowded-as about noone uses it anyway) the same as whole room in some Thai place round the corner. No, theyre nort dives-here they are design and ultra-clean. Let those stupid OZzies (not all are-but those who cannot use proper english) smother in their own ideas of hoStels if they even refuse to read the situation in any LP!
