The other thing about you enjoying land border crossings is that from Ranong to the Burma side you have to cross by boat . Thus Ranong is inconvenient , its very spread out and its a long way from the bus station to the boat docks . Unless you are prepared to charter a boat across to Kawthoung /Victoria Point then you have to wait for other passengers to share the cost with. Once at Victoria Point as far as I know you are not allowed to travel any further by land independently. So its not a land crossing in any sense and it costs you extra time to do it this way but its your choice.
