My family has rented a house on Koh Samui for 10 days in August. I wanted to get some advice on what to do/see on the island as well as recommendations on restaurants and nightlife. We're going to rent a car, so we'll be able to get around.

I'm also interested in diving. I've dove in Koh Tao, so I wanted to see if there are any good sites near Samui. Also, any recommendation for dive companies?

Samui doesnt have much in the way of diving. There are a few local site which are pretty mediocre but for the most part the dive boats head out close to Ko Tao. Sail Rock and Southwest pinnacle are alright but if your looking for diving the Andaman side is better(imo..).

Hi Jenn,

You may want to have a look at my Samui weather blog, which has plenty of ideas for things to do, restauarnt reviews etc.

For diving from Samui, I recommend Sail Rock, in my opinion the ebst dive site in the Gulf. Every dive center has trips to Sail Rock.
