I arrive in Bangkok on the 19th and I'm looking to get to Koh Samui and stay there and travel by boat to Koh Phangan for the full moon party on the 23rd of October.

Are flights easy to come by when I arrive in Bangkok to get to Koh Samui or should I look at booking in advance online with bangkok airways. I don't want to do this encase my flights to get to Bangkok are delayed. Or would a train and a ferry give me enough time to get there.

I'm also looking for a recommended place to stay on Koh Samui where access to the full moon party will be easy, somewhere around the Big Buddha area, as its not to far from the airport and it is where I can get a ferry to the FMP. Also should we look at booking in advance or wait till we get there. I was advised recently to book the first night in advance at least.

Thanks in advance.

plenty of time to take the train/ bus/ ferry.

No need to book in October, unless staying at Had Rin.

DON'T take the speedboats- people die on them. Take the ferry.

It depends how cheap and easy you want to do it. The most expensive and easiest way would be to book a bangkok airways flight down there now from 20 or 21st. Why are you staying in Ko Samui for the full moon party if you want somewhere a bit quieter and easier then head to the beach west of Had Rin called Haad Yuan on Ko Pagnan, its beautiful and only 10 min 300 THB on a long tail boat. You can go to Ko Samui afterwards if you time. Haad Yuan is definately the most beautiful place much nicer than any where in Ko samui (Oh so Pooey).

If you want to get a train/ferry down it may be hard to book when you get there as oct is semi busy. You may have to wait a few days thats all.

Have fun and don't bring your camera to the full moon party unless its waterproof. I've been to 3 full moon parties took my camera twice and this year it got wet/destroyed, damn.

I was told its hard to find accommodation on Ko Pagnan during the full moon party, its the only reason I was planning on staying on Koh Samui. If its not that hard to find accomodation during the FMP has anybody any recommedation on a place and a site to book from or will i just wait till i get there.
