I'm headed to Koh Samui in July and I am researching where to stay. I would like to be close to the Dog and Cat Rescue
(112 / 35 Moo 6, Bophut
Koh Samui
84320 Suratthani)

I'm looking for nothing fancy but close to (or possibly on?) the beach (Chaweng beach) is my main priority. I really don't need a fancy or large room. I'm staying for a month so I'd be happy to look into renting an apartment short-term too.

Any recommendations?
Thank you.

A relative cheapy right on one of Chaweng's nicest section of beach is OP - got a pix and some info abt 35% down this page http://tezzasthaiinfo.blogspot.com/2009/08/samui.html

At the same time, you are likely to find much cheaper rooms in the streets back from the beach. And much cheaper beachfront accommodation on other beaches - particularly the northern ones.

You'll find somewhere in Chaweng real easily.

They're cool with short term as well - it's very quiet at the moment - any business is good!

A friend of mine has just rented out an apartment there for £300 a month.. very modern, flat screen TV, WIFI.. includes all bills.. as well as shared swimming pool and gym!

Obviously just a small room is going to be A LOT cheaper - you'll be looking at around £90 per month.

One piece of advice.. find out the dates that Chaweng floods. A few months ago there were floods 1 metre high in Chaweng (Google it!). If you were renting on the beach when this happened you'd have no home - perhaps somewhere a little higher up is recommended :)
