hi, im looking to book the camping trip on maya bay in ko phi phi in october as ive heard some very good reviews on it . im not exactly sure which day i will be arriving in ko phi phi and was wondering if you can book this on arrival due to this or do you have to book in advance to make sure of a place and also will it be cheaper to book when i get there ? any help on this would be grateful.
thank you .
Michael

I booked mine through Spider Monkey on Ko Phi Phi the night before... plus if you wait, you can see what the weather will be like. I think the cost was the same if booked online or at the agency.. I think I paid around $70 USD (worth it), but because I booked through the agency I also did a half day of snorkeling and cliff diving before being dropped off at Maya Beach. I did this a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. We had a small group, 13 people, so if you are looking for a party like we were you might ask how many people are booked for the night you are interested in....
Thanks for that i will probablys wait until i arrive then as i didnt think about the weather circumstance as it might spoil the trip. I will make a note of the company you used and ill go through them since you had a good experience with them, it sounds worth the money and the if the price is the same as online it shouldnt be a problem .
thanks again
Michael

Side note: make sure you bring a dry bag for your camera, etc. They will either make you swim to a rope ladder to climb and then walk over to the other side (Maya Beach) or they will take you into Maya Bay and you hop off the boat with your bag nice and dry. Our group had to wade through chest high water in high tide and climb the rope ladder. Not a big deal, but unfortunately my bag (inside a trash bag) got a hole in it and got my camera was ruined.... just a word of caution! The next day we had to walk back to the other side of the island and swim to the Maya Bay Camping boat docked out in the lagoon... but, they took our bags (again inside trash bags) to the boat via kayak...and we snorkeled on the way back to Phi Phi...
The first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Phi Phi Lay is…amazing Maya Bay, then you think about mass of tourists visiting these islands every day… But, if you know where to stay and how to visit it, you will not feel so crowded....
I have just returned from Phi Phi Islands. It was great! See my reviews on: http://www.travel-on-your-own.com/2011/12/phi-phi-islands-first-thing-that-comes.html
Have a good trip!
