@41. The nearest Thai consulate is in Wellington. I am in the south island and am not planning on taking a huge detour to Wellington to pick up a visa. It just costs so much $$$ to go anywhere in New Zealand, and all I really want is the 30 day visa-exemption, not the 60 day visa. Do you have to get the visa in-person or can they do it electronically?

Yes thats a problem , you can get a travel agent to get the visa for you by courier if there is time , I am not sure how much extra will be charged for that. Another option is try and contact Emirates airlines and explain your situation to them (if you can get thru to someone with some authority) and ask if your ticket can be marked so check in crew know you have been ok'd to fly without visa/ticket or if you can sign disclaimer . Thats a longshot but could be worth trying . If not then perhaps the passport courier option may be the best bet.

Elgerma and Raki Man were correct . Andreas At Lp has clarified that the the Whos On is showing the locations users are posting from but its not always accurate and doesn't show locations of mobile phones etc.
