Hi,
I'm arriving in Koh Samui on the 3rd of May and staying there, or nearby islands until the 13th. I want to book my first nights accomodation just for peace of mind. I'll be travelling alone and really want a hostel that is good for meeting other travellers, can anyone recommend one?
Also, if anyone is that way when I am, let me know :)

I stayed in New Hut Bungalows last year, they were great, friendly staff, bungalows on the beach, food was good and cheap. I'd recommend it. It's in Lamai beach by the way. I think it was 300 baht a night for a 2 bed bungalow.
Few hostels in Thailand - instead individual budget beach bungalows for the budget traveller. And yeah for value New Hut on Lamai is pretty good in a sweet position. Got some more info and a pix on the Samui page HERE might help your planning.
OP on Chaweng is a pretty good bit more exxy alternative - but for total cool, check the first pic on that page.
