Hey there,

I'm trying to buy my little sis a ticket from HKG to Thailand for a short vacation to the South at the end of march. Any ideas which carriers run from HKG to Thailand and whether she could fly direct to Krabi or Phuket on the cheap.

Thanks!
Dawn

An alternative and potentially cheaper way to get from HKG to Krabi/Phuket is to take the ferry to Macau then fly Air Asia to Bangkok and connect on to Krabi or Phuket.

I think using Macau as the gateway might be a lot less than flying direct from HKG...but then again, maybe not as you have to add the cost of the ferry...and time might be an issue.

Check the respective websites for schedules and prices...be careful booking on Air Asia though as their website can be fickle.

Dragon Air, Cathy Pacific and Thai have direct flights to Phuket, but these cost around HK$2800 - which is very poor value...
Seeing Macau is a definaite treat, and very much worth while. As is the ferry journey out there.
Nonetheless, this is not likely to save you money considering the HK$140 ferry fare and around $500-600 Air Asia ticket.
If you want a speedy and dependable flight out of HK int airport to Bangkok, I highly reccomend Air Lanka, the Sri Lankan national carrier. Their website has one-way flights for $500 plus tax ($778) pretty much anytime - Air Lanka Coming back its 1000 baht plus tax which is cheaper still...
