Lots of rain here yesterday afternoon - for about 2 hours
WHAT - send some down here, we never even saw a cloud yesterday.
I have said a few times before that the south of KC gets a lot less rain the rest of the island.

Some of the heaviest rains I have ever experienced in Thailand have been on Ko Chang.
It's one of the few places in Thailand where I've known it to really bucket down for days on end....rather like in the Beatific Islands in Carry on Again Doctor and that.
Last time I was there I was forced - like Sid James - to shack up with my own 'Monday', lots of booze and a jigsaw of Queen Victoria with a piece missing. Sometimes life does imitate art.

As one of those who hope someday to retire in, or around CM, this talk of unpleasant weather is a wake-up call. I have only been there in the dry season, and like to imagine it is like that all the time.
What a difference a day makes. 20-30 minutes of rain and voila - pleasant again. Waking up to high-20s is a significant improvement over the high-30s/low-40s of late. If you come to live here from, say, Canada, with it's freezing cold winters and rainy west coast, after a while your preferences may change. There is such a thing as "too effing hot" and rain can be your friend.
Right now it's just the sort of weather many people dream of - warm but not debilitating, gentle breeze, mostly blue sky, hint of tom yum goong in the air...
