Thunderstorm expected in Thailand

That's a fairly blanket statement, but %&#$ we could use some wet stuff here up north. I think it rained for 10 minutes on March 20-something one evening. Otherwise it's reached at least 40C every single day the past 6 weeks and we're running out of water. Downstairs the taps are still kinda running but the city water supply can't make it upstairs with anything more than a trickle at best. At least the haze is mostly past with the critical numbers back down to safe levels and I can see Doi Pui or at least an outline of it. Really breezy lately too hinting at the onset of some thunderstorms (or just teasing us). Riding the bike doesn't help - like riding through an oven, and without a beach no way to stay 18 meters under breathing compressed air. Best alternative go to the shopping mall or hiding in my upstairs office with the AC on turbo. Anyone else gasping for rain? Feel free to whinge and moan about your weather, thanks guys.

Hey Bob dont be selfish and keep it all.
Prbably had less than 5 hours rain on Koh Chang since october.
My well totally dried up a month ago and as for the heat i thought i would have got used to it by now.
Just grateful i am living by the sea, thank goodnees for the sea breeze otherwise it would be unbearable

I saw a Thai tv news report that Ko Chang's water supply was about tapped out and they were searching for more ground water. How true is that? Of course I can't find any links to this story - bad for tourism I guess, never mind that whole countries are now telling their people not to visit.

Well, I awoke to a lovely light rain in Bangkok this morning with relatively cool weather for once. It is quite refreshing.

I don't miss the April Chiang Mai heat, that's for sure. Spent April/May 2006 there, it was 38-40C for the first couple of weeks and I didn't even have AC.

I'm definitely not going to moan about the weather in Korea, spring is here and it's a beautiful 18-20C here near Busan this weekend with clear sunny skies. The birds are singing and life is good :-)

I hope the rain continues for you Captain_Bob!

As one of those who hope someday to retire in, or around CM, this talk of unpleasant weather is a wake-up call. I have only been there in the dry season, and like to imagine it is like that all the time. Well back to reality, for a while.

Losing Touch is correct!

Was very pleasant indeed in BKK today! Nice and overcast, punctuated by an occasional English drizzle.

Made a change from the relentless pounding, glaring sunshine and baking heat of late. Hopefully the rainy season proper won't be too far away - my favourite time of the year!

Seems increadible when you consider it is regarded as the wettest part of Thailand
A lot of resorts and private residential properties do not have an outside supply of water and instead rely on finding their own bore holes or relying on delivery trucks. This has 2 effects on the island 1) blue plastic pipes running all over the place and 2) adding to the danger for motorbikes where trucks have spilt water on roads causing very slippy surfaces.

My understanding is there are large supply in the centre of the island but no one is prepared to pay the costs involved to tap in to it

There's plans for a reservoir and dam in a valley in Klong Prao. The land has already been appropriated by the govt. The architect drawings and perspectives were on display at the temple a few months ago. But our well has still got lots of water in it - never run dry in 6 years of being here.

Lots of rain here yesterday afternoon - for about 2 hours. Sun is out again now :-)
