Hello again one and all!!

The hour is drawing near, will be in Koh Samui on the 7th and will be there for 13 days. There's a group of four of us and while we're there we'll probably spend four days in Koh Samui, then get the boat over to Koh Tao for a week, spending the last couple of days back on Samui.

I've been there before (Samui) but must confess to being a complete beach bum and not really venturing anywhere other than the sea. We liked Bo Phut (although found it a little sleepy), and didn't really rate Chaweng (although it did tip it down while we were there) as thought it was a bit like mini Bangkok. Loved Koh Tao, and did a bit more there like snorkelling and sea kayaking.

My question is simple. What are your top three must sees/dos? It can be anything, we're all pretty fit and up for it, and I really want to make the most of the time we have, so please feel free to impart some gems, secret locations, insider advice etc. Also any reccomendations for accomodation (preferably bungalows up to 1500BHT)....

P.S. Sorry for the pre-ramble - I talk a lot when I'm excited :-)

Hi Lisaminx,

For Samui I can recommend to spit through my Samui info and weather blog, first below. It has lots of information about things to do, where to eat etc.

On Koh Tao I would definately recommend taking a diving course.

Been a while since I was on Samui (be there next August!), but one thing I thought really excellent was the daytrip to Ang Thong National Marine Park - hundreds of spectacular islands - trip offered everywhere around Samui.

Pehaps you could check my Tao page http://tezzasthaiinfo.blogspot.com/2006/12/ko-tao.html for some suggestions on things to do about 75% down page. To these I'd suggest a daytrip to adjacent Ko Nangyuan and a hike over to one of the laid back eastern bays - be carefull if you hire motorcycles for this - need to be expert riders.

Thanks all. Went to Ang Thong last time, you're right - it's amazing, especially the climb to the Emerald Lagoon, will definitely be going there again.

What are the waterfalls like in Samui?

P.S. Been religiously checking your weather blog, limbo1, and makes interesting reading, thanks.

The waterfalls are a pleasant enough side-trip, although I've found all Thai island waterfalls a bit less than whelming. There are elephant rides near one - I think the lower falls - if that sort of thing floats your boat.

At Ang Thong, did you also do the climb up to the viewpoint on the NP Headquarters Island? Amazing 360 degree views.

Being a weather-nerd, I too am a keen reader of limbo's blog. But there's more! Just checked a link to a Cruise Outfit^^ - Lady Tezza want's to do a cruise. Jeez, there goes the budget!

^^Is an Aussie outfit so it may not be on the page you view - Google mixes the advertisements according to source of viewer. Clever devils aren't they?
