Hi,
My Boyfriend and I are soon to be leaving for a round the world trip, part of which is an organised tour in China.
Due to the fact that we will be entering China more that 3 months after we leave the UK we have to get our China visas somewhere in S.E. Asia, we are thinking that Bangkok will be the best place for this.
If anyone has done this before and can offer advice or just explain what the process is in Thailand it would be very much appreciated.
How long do they take to process? How much do they cost and what currency do they expect it in? Are questions we would particularly like answers to.
Many Thanks
Sarah

daft easy, either by yourself or via agents (add 2/300 bt for servicefee)
need 2 COLOR assp fotos, embassy is very near ramIX SUBway stop (NOT skytrain!!) and opens MORNINGS 9-12, everyone speakee the anglit. fill in form, follow signs: NORmal service was 1100 Bt (or so), colect 4 days later, pay then, SPEEDY service is next day=double the price.

Getting a Chinese visa in Bangkok is super easy. I would recommend the agent round to avoid the headache and time wasted trying to find/deal with the embassy. I used one along KSR (can't remember the name, but there are many) -- wasn't too expensive, and the turnaround time was just a few days. Make sure you keep a copy of your passport while they're processing your visa!
Re: #2 - China is a fantastic, mind-boggling experience. .. just keep yourself open to cultural experiences that are likely very different from anywhere else you've traveled!
