Hellooo!

I've heard about these places in Thailand where you can go and detox for 3,5,7 or 10 days. I've been searching on the internet and found few and although they look great (yoga, massage, irrigations...) they seem quite expensive, about £600 for a week plus £180 accommodation.

Does anyone know cheaper detox centers? It doesn't matter where as long as it's in Thailand...

Thanks

Detoxing is easy. Just dont put any toxins in your body for a week.

dominic77's detox centre.

Location: Any cheap bungalow on a quiet beach.

Materials required: Reading books, iPod, self-discipline.

Schedule: Get up early. Drink lots and lots of water. Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. Minimise your consumption of processed food and refined starches like white rice. Obviously, don't drink any alcohol or smoke. Do lots of exercise - run along the beach, swim in the sea, do push ups and crunches in your bungalow. Go to bed early, and make sure you get at least 9-10 hours sleep a night. Repeat daily until you feel suitably "detoxed".

Costs: 200-500 baht for the bungalow (per night). Basic food and drink. Otherwise, it's free!

If you lack the willpower to do it yourself, there are plenty of places in Thailand willing to part you from plenty of money for their "professional" detox, as you have discovered.

Dominic, just so you know, it has been scientifically proven that drinking lots and lots of water wont make any difference than just drinking a normal amount. especially when you consider that all those friuts and vegetables are on average 80% water too. It will just make you piss more often. Just letting you know so you dont waste your time and money drinking unneccessary amounts of water (and pissing) on your next detox.

^ That may indeed be true, but I definitely feel a hell of a lot better when I drink plenty of water so I shall continue investing in a couple of big bottles of water each day :-)

On another note, it does make me smile when people flock to those "professional" detox places after a week of nonstop binge drinking and partying in Hat Rin. They must think that a week of self abuse can be miraculously reversed with a bit of expensive colonic irrigation, yoga and massage.

two big bottles a day is fine. Its the nimrods you see chugging back a liter an hour you have to feel sorry for.
