Hi

My girlfriend and I are flying into Phuket on the 30th may for a 10 day break. I am looking for advise from anyone who is currently there or has recently left. Has there been any impact on the area with the recent cyclone and its impact on neighbouring Burman? What is the mood of the place?

Also the weather forecast shows a lot of cloud, is it constantly raining or only periodically. Should I head east quickly to catch the better weather?

Appreciate your help

H

The cyclone was nearly 1000km from Phuket. There was some rain and larger waves than normal but that was it. Weather is mostly sunny, some rain.

What is the mood of the place?

Also sunny.

Hugo, maybe you could monitor this site - conditions in Phuket in 3 hour blocks over the past 24 hours - http://www.tmd.go.th/en/weather_report_3hour.php?StationNumber=48565 - as your trip approaches. BTW - "cloudy sky" means cloud with sunny patches.

Also good ol windguru is a favourite of a lot of weathnerds - it forecasts sunny and rainy periods of the day over a week ahead (!!??) - http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=310
