Help me decide- I cannot find enough reviews on the beach quality of either places on Koh Samui. we will be there in March 08.

We are beach lovers and will have two small children with us! Not worried about it being family orientated area. We want the best beach location. Soft sand & clear water.
Acommodation requirement is just a few bungalows- with air con thats clean. A few restaurant options around would be good, but probably taxi to Main town for a few nights to see the hustle & bustle!

So! Choeng Mon & Chaweng Noi (or south chaweng itself)?

Thank you in advance.

Wauw snugglebum. You will be there in March 08 ??

That is more than a year away.
Things are changing very quickly on Samui.
Will there be another coup in this period?
Will the king be still alive?
Will there be more bombings?
Will there be a civil war goning on?

They are building a huge hotel in Chaweng Noi at this moment.
The whole island is a large building site these days.

Best place: Bophut (and some parts of Maenam)

Yes March 08!
Whats wrong with doing lots of research before hand?

I have a wedding to plan and a group of guests to consider. I just want to find out whats the nicest beach?

Is this not what the forum is for?

Thanks for replying Louvan your a great help!
Bophut is not meant to have the nicest beach so I have read in guide books and reviews. Cool if it is I will look into Bophut. Is that where all the fishing boats moore up?
Thankyou.

Have a look here -The owners belong to one of the oldest families in Samui, the location is fantastic [for me, it is the best beach ] - and the bungalows are located in acres of land, right on the beach.
They are being renovated [renovation finishes in June] and the prices are fantastic.
I stayed here with my family [I choose a deluxe bungalow] and the only thing I had to worry about was not getting hit on the head by a coconut on the beach-
you can easily get a tuk tuk into Chaweng for shopping and dining,[5 mins away] and you to your right the other direction] are lots of restaurants about a 15 minute walk, on the seaside/
The beach is shallow and clearblue.
Hope this helps.

About Bophut, you are correct, there is a pier at the end of the beach where all the seafood restaurants are - it is worth eating at one of the restaurants there however, as they offer fresh seafood.
The day excursions [snorkelling, Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, kayaking etc.,] Marine National park, all leave from Bophut as well.
The pier is about a 15 mins walk from the main beach, however, the beach itself is nice and quiet, but with deep and murky waters.
The peace resort [owned by another traditional family of Samui] at Bophut, has an excellent restaurant!

Dianab1,

Thank you very much indeed! Its near the Fair house isn't it? These two are on my shortlist for Chaweng noi.
I am getting really excited that there is some reasonable acommodation we can afford on a gorgeous beach!

Thank you
