I have seen some jewellery made from semi precious stones and silver that I'd like to get, but they are pricey (in Australia). Does anyone know if I'll be able to get the same jewellery done in Samui for a good price if I show a picture of it?
And are the semi precious stones real...?

Thanks!
Ann

Know your stones and know your silver. Thai's are amazing at making beautiful, genuine copies!
There is a lot of real stuff out there too, but often it can be hard to tell. I don't know about ko samui, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't someone who could do it for you. I know a great person that I would definately recommend (he is a good friend and I import his jewelery for sale in Canada) but he is in Ko Lipe. If you are heading that way I can give you contact information.

good luck!

Hi
Apologies for hijacking this thread, but I too would be interested in gaining the contact for your friend in Ko Lipe. I will be bringing some genuine semi precious stones with me from NZ at the end of the month (have to check with customs first though) and would be interested in getting jewellery made. My father had the same experience and ended up losing money getting his stones made into Jewellery in Aus. Too pricey.

Any assistance appreciated.

Hi, there are a few shops in Samui which can jewellery make by order , I personally had a semi-precious stones experience with the shop Classic Gems in Chaweng opposite Centara Grand resort, and the jewellery they made are beautiful (mind you I did it with white gold, not silver, but I am sure they can do silver too). Also another shop ( sorry forgot the name) - is just a few meters down the road from this one, there is a lovely Chinese guy who can also make stuff (he made for me a copy of my white gold earring which I managed to lose).
You can also check a few silver shops in Chaweng, I particularly like 3 of them - one called Try Out - small white colour shop on the corner opposite Buri Rasa resort, then a very small shop called Jantima tucked between massage shop and something else near TOPS supermarket in Chaweng, and also one shop just in a beggining of Chaweng, kind of opposite Muang Samui resort.. Hope it helps somehow.
