Hey there,

I live in Japan but I will be leaving this year to travel through South East Asia and India. Since I am not going to be returning to Japan after the trip is over, I don't want to buy a return ticket from here. Is it possible to enter Thailand with only a one way ticket?

Thanks for your help.

Definately. I have been to Bangkok about 7 times and have never been asked whether I had a return ticket.

Yes, Thailand doesnt care. Check with the airline....sometimes they check for visa requirements. I am not sure about Japan, but that is how it works in US.

No problems likely at the Thai end but you may get asked questions in Japan when boarding the plane.

You might have to sign a disclaimer absolving the airline of all financial responsibility if you fail to get into Thailand, or you could be asked for proof that you can support yourself (showing a credit card or two should do the trick).

The regulations state that aliens wanting to stay in Thailand on permit to stay issued on arrival must have onward travel arrangements from Thailand, so you can have a booked flight to anywhere else, doesn't have to be return to Japan.
This question is asked many times, and the consensus is that you will be allowed through Thai immigration without onward flight arrangements, BUT you may not be allowed on the plane in Japan, depending on the airline company.
