When I arrive at a place in Thailand by bus I always ask about a bus out before I leave the bus station.

So do if I'm going back from whence I came but it's a bit difficult to do beforehand if the enquiry is about a route to a third place. I know there used to be a bus as I took it some years ago but things change and not always for the better. I didn't want to have to go via Chiang Nai.
