Hi there,I'm thinking of going down to Krabi in March for some diving/climbing and chilled out beach life. Friends had recommended Railay beach, though this was a few years ago. I'm looking for a fairly low key/local resort rather than an all inclusive holiday package.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

At Krabi:
Ao Nang - heavily touristy beach front with lots of facilities (restaurants, dive shops, etc) and a non-too pretty beach with good views.
West Railay - quiite up-market and more expensive. In a boat-only-accessible bay with superb views. Recent reports complain of building work and noise.
East Railay - boat only, not pretty, but cheaper and 5 mins walk from West Railay.
Ton Sai - boat only, 10 mins walk from West Railay, more rustic with beach bars and bungalows off the beach. Popular with climbers.
Noppoprat Thara - quite beach 2 km to the west of Ao Nang with just a few low-key resorts on a large crescent but very flat beach. Views out to Koh Phi Phi in the distance.
With what you've said, I'd recommend finding more about about Ton Sai to see if it suits you.
