Has anyone stayed at either the Bay View on Phi Phi or the Sawasdee Village at Kata Beach? My fiancee and I are looking at staying here on our honeymoon in May this year and would like to hear any opinions.

Hi! We stayed at Bay View Last week. Beautiful cabins and our room (309) had a great view too. However, for your honeymoon I would say the new huts at The Beach Resort on Long Beach are the finest. We stayed in their old bungalows, which was ok, but you want to stay in their new, very spacious bungalows, huge balconies and insane views. The new ones are more expensive (peak season 6500 i think) than Bay View (4400) but since you'll be there in May the rates should be a lot lower. They have a little tuktuk to drop you at your room up the hill... The beach itself is also much better than at Bay View.

And the best Thai food on Phi Phi we found on the very high Phi Phi Hill restaurant right next door, on the southern tip of the island.

I have always been impressed by Bay View's...um.. views, and I'm gunna stay there one trip! Have you checked booking sites like Agoda, sawadee.com and AsiaRooms? Their user reviews pull no punches - although I sometimes think people who have unhappy experiences are more likely to bother to fire in a report.
I'm also a fan of The Beach Resort - there is a shot from one of the highest balconies of one of the new bungalows near the top of the right hand column on this http://tezza-thailandbeachesandislands.blogspot.com/ page. I think prices may be lower in May - low season has set in and last August I was offered one of their lower but still very nice bungalows for 1700.

Oh yeah, one other advantage of The Beach is a nicer beach and a choice of restaurants. However you can walk over from Bay View to Long Beach in about 10-15 minutes, and Bay View into town is a similar nice walk - maybe a bit longer.
