has anyone ever been barred from a hotel, guesthouse, bar or whatever in Thailand?

I have, twice. Once I was a bit annoyed when, as I was checking out of one place where I'd stayed loads of times, I clocked up 31 minutes on the internet and the guy charged me for the full hour. Within his rights I suppose, but it rubbed me up the wrong way a bit what with my being such a regular customer and there was a bit of a sharp exchange as I paid up and left. Next time I came back he said the place was full even though it was obvious that it wasn't.

then the next year I came back again and he let me stay this time, giving me this smile that basically told me my transgression was forgiven.

this other place in Pattaya also barred me. I made a telephone reservation with them and when I turned up they said they were full and a couple of other times they also said they were full when I very much doubted that they were. No idea why this was maybe I made too much noise.

You must have been a very unpleasant customer, if he still remembered you a year later.

So, let me get this straight - you complained about having to pay a couple of cents to a guy who probably doesn't even make $20 a day for having to put up with dozens of people like you, who think the world revolves solely around pleasing them. And then you admit "Within his rights I suppose"...it just makes me think this post is a joke because it's so absurd.

I'm betting you have problems with people, or rather - people have problems with you, in your own country?? What a surprise..

nonsense I must have stayed there at least thirty times in the past five years. They asked about my girlfriend, who'd stayed there with me the time before, of course they recognised me. And this was the business owner, by the way, not the hired help.

I've got a business too and you know something you never forget a regular customer's face. It's part of the job to remember them.
