thanks for the more helpful replies, I get this may not be the forum for me anymore (now married with two kids) but then where do I go? I don't want to take a tour from the hotel, I want word of mouth tour guide. I have been quoted 10 000 THB for a family canals and tuk tuk tour. This is ludicrous for me. Yes perhaps i can do this myself with a map .....but it does help to have someone who can do it all for one....any further thoughts? This is not my first time to Bangkok....first time with kids....
Explore mentioned cities

But you need to remember those word of mouth recommendations come from strangers who might have different expectations. No different to asking your accommodation, etc as has been suggested.
Are you simply saying you need a "tour guide" to hold your hand while you explore various places in Bangkok? Keep in mind that you can do shopping on your own if that is something you need someone with you. The Skytrain (city rail service) can take you to many places in Bangkok if you do not want to use taxis. (Siam area, Chatuchak, shopping malls, restaurants, etc.) You can ride the boats on your own too for really cheap money.

Two tour companies that I have come across for years are Rat and Tong. Maybe they will set up a special city only tour. Out of the city tours you can book through local travel agencies. They will have shared tours with you and 8 or 9 other people.

The only tour I signed up for in Bangkok was an evening dinner cruise about 20 years ago. For Bangkok I always choose a hotel where I can use the Skytrain. I have used several shared tours to tourist places outside the city area.
Hope you find what you are looking for.

Why is the OP getting angry? This is a free forum of independent travellers.
If you want to book tours you book them direct (google them) or use travel agents local or otherwise.
Bangkok has travel agents all over that can book all kinds of tours.
Anyone who has been to Bangkok should know this. All major hotel areas have them with tours ranging in price from 600 baht up.
Some people expect to get spoon fed for free....

Hi OP,
Perhaps you can use Withlocals. I'm not sure if it is allowed to post such info, but it's a company that offers tours with actual locals. Similar to Airbnb, but with tours.
Good luck and have a nice stay in Bangkok!

Its easy to find using google so a link not necessary. Have made a note of it for future reference for a couple of countries.
