I booked a guest house in Ayutthaya through Agoda for December and it doesn't require a deposit or payment. Is my room guaranteed?
Yes.. Thailand doesnt require the credit card... In reverse you can do a no show and not be charged!!
"i would suggest you send the bookwd hotel a note closer to the day confirming your arrival because there are many overbooked hotels due to this Thai policy
No, you don't have a 100% guarantee of a room. This it the modern world, and the crazy way internet booking sites work.
Contact the hotel directly now, and confirm they have received your booking.
Contact them again a week before you plan on arriving, and try and confirm again.
ABSOLUTELY contact them the day before and confirm again. If you plan on arriving late, call them in the early afternoon and assure them that you are coming.
Booking a room without a deposit three months in advance means that you will be low down the list of priorities, if the hotel happens to be overbooked.
If the hotel isn't overbooked, and has spare rooms, you obviously won't have a problem at all.
There you have it two answers and complete opposite although both recommend the right thing
Even if you have paid on these sites it isn't guaranteed as things can still go wrong - how the hotel responds is then key. I booked and paid for a cheap place to stay on arrival in Bali and the hotel had messed up but they rang round found me a room at more expensive place and covered the extra costs themselves
