Good day! We are off to Europe from NZ in a couple of weeks and decide to have a few days stop over in Koh Samui.

Back in our backpacking days, Samui was a jumping off point for the ferry to Phangnan and Tao and we never really spent much time there, apart from a couple of nights on the main Chwang (?) strip.

Anyway, now we have a 15 month toddler and my wife will also be 5 months pregnant, our whole dynamic has changed (and our budget).

So, I imagine there are some good deals going at the moment, but could anyone recommend somewhere that meets the following.....

Budget approx 2000 bhat/night, good accoimidation and reasonable resurant (within baby monitor range, about 200mtrs), easy beach access, quite (away from Cheweng) and kid friendly.

Also is it better to book something now, or at Samui airport? (Before we would go to several places, before deciding, but with a child we don't want to rushing backwards and forwards between places)

Many thanks for your help!

Research Google, LP, booking sites like sawadee.com and user sites like tripadvisor for Thong Thakian (various spelling eg Thong Ta Khian - but Google usually sorts this). Lovely laid back little beach with easy access to more busy places - 3 very good user-rating places to stay.

Oh yeah, I'd be tempted to book now, although I am sure there will be vacancies walk in.
