Hi,
I have worked out that I have around 25,000 BHT to spend on accomodation in Krabi & Phi Phi at the end of our trip. 3 nights in Phi Phi and 3 nights in Krabi.
Can someone suggest from their experiences the best places they have stayed at on about that budget in a good location (near the nice beaches) please.
Thanks in advance.

Wow, 4000bht per night should get you a pretty sweet place. I've just come back from a couple of weeks in Phi Phi and Ao Nang (about 20 minutes from Krabi) with my wife and baby daughter and had the best holiday of my life.
We stayed at 'Phi Phi Viewpoint Resort' for the first week. Their most well-appointed suites, right by the beach, cost 4000bht per night, which we stayed in for a couple of nights; we also stayed in a more basic bungalow for 1200bht per night for the other three nights (no air-con or hot shower but a tv and bar fridge and a spectacular view).
It's a great resort, decent pool (but near a septic, so sometimes a bit whiffy), good bar (grab a 'mojito' cocktail - delish) and good massage room, again with a great view. We were a bit annoyed at the nearby 'Reggae Bar' constantly playing their music til all hours. Another place worth checking out is Hat Yao (Longbeach), which you get to by longtail - it's a beautiful swimming beach with a few resorts right by the sand. We stayed in the 'Paradise' resort, with an aircon/fridge/hot wate bungalow costing around 2400bht. We preferred this spot to the main part of Phi Phi, but really, anywhere on this island will offer easy access to picture-perfect beaches.
We didn't get to Krabi, but we spent a week in Ao Nang, a smaller seaside touristy town with a great atmosphere; while it's beach isn't great, a short longtail trip to Princess Cave or any of the other beautiful islands more than sufficed. We stayed at the 'Lai Thai' resort, with the friendliest staff you'll come across and the most gorgeous pool set in the most beautiful surroundings. A very well appointed bungalow set us back 2800bht per night.
Enjoy your trip half as much as we did and you'll have the time of your life.

Hey Lejuan,
Thank you. You are making me so excited! I can't wait. Excellent tips. Cheers mate.

Maehongson36, Sheraton in Krabi looks awesome but so expensive! 9600 baht just for there basic room. Thanks for your advice also.

Thank you maehongson. I like Holiday Inn for Phi Phi Island but now I have Koh Lanta in my head as was told the beaches are nice and less touristy... This planning is hard. Maybe I should just look around when I am there and wing it.
Thank you all.

For Phi Phi easilly the best choice for you is Holiday Inn. For Krabi, the Sheraton is outstanding. We have stayed at both and the Holiday Inn many times. Going again in a few days!! Pics of both hotels at link below.

Leigh, do you know if the garden or standard bungalows are okay. I know you said you get the beachfront one, but just wondering what the others are like.
Cheers,

We prebooked our first night and spent the first day checking out a few resorts - we had no problem on Phi Phi finding a bungalow, despite our criteria (2 x couples with 2 x babies). Ao Nang was harder because of the festivals held there in February but we still stumbled upon the Lai Thai Resort. The couple we travelled with had been to Thailand on 9 previous occassions, in different seasons, and never had to prebook. Still, some are less comfortable with this kind of spontaneity and prefer to put the work in at the planning end.
What we found was that so little time was spent in the bungalows that it wouldn't have mattered how well-appointed they were except that we wanted at least a fridge to store baby food and keep water cold. In between snorkelling, walking, shopping for cheap dvds, swimming, cocktailing, pancake eating, coconut drinking and longtailing to different islands and beaches, you won't want for much else. If I were the rock climbing, scuba-diving, cliff-jumping, elephant-hiking, motorbike-riding, cheap Rolex wearing type, I'd also have been pretty happy.
