We are going to be in Thailand for 2 weeks in September. We are thinking of doing one week at the sea and something different for another week. (we know its the rainy season). We heard that you can go and feed and ride the elephants in the North somewhere??? If you know please let me know. What else do you recommend to do or see in the north??? any recommendation will be appreciated

There are several elephant camps in the Chiang Mai area. The camps in Mae Sa, Mae Taeng, and Chiang Dao allow visitors to see and ride elephants and sometimes there is a "show". The Elephant Conservation Center is south of Chiang Mai near the city of Lampang. It has been operating for about 4 years and gives refuge and care to otherwise potentially exploited elephants and there is a hospital where injured elephants are cared for. The Elephant Nature Park is quickly gaining popularity with volunteers. You have to pay to work there - it is not for tourists. The work entails extensive interaction, bathing, and teaching the elephants.

Hi Plato, At the Elephant Nature Park you can do a one day trip which is a really good day out. I think its the only place where you get to bath with the elephants but you dont get to ride on them, they will tell you why.
