I want to get a decent room for my first few nights and am wondering if anyone has a suggestion of a place and/or an area I should consider most. So I was originally planning to travel Africa this Summer, but my school has offered to send me to Cambodia for a student trip on July 16th-21st, and they'll pay for my air-fare, hotels, etc so it seemed silly not to take them up on it. So I guess this year I'm planning a South-East Asia venture. My total holiday is from July 1st to August 21st. And I have to be in Phenom Penh (Cambodian Capital) from 16th to 21st of July.

I'm in China for a year and have a week's holiday to use, probably to use in December (of which the weather may be a consideration).

I just wondered out of interest what and where people would spend said week in Asia?

I really want to visit the Szechuan region, but it's actually looking more expensive, inconvenient and time consuming from where I am in Fuzhou to go. Flights I've found have been almost double that to make it to Chengdu than say Osaka.

Me and a friend are travelling for 4 or 5 weeks, starting roughly 10th August. (Yes, we know its monsoon season and we're prepared :D). We'll be starting in Chiang Mai and travelling through Laos and ending in North Vietnam, going round Sapa and the likes.
