hi every body out there!
i try to get (overland) from bangkok to laos and also do the boat trip between houayxai and louang phabang at laos.
would you recomend to travel from bangkok to chiang khong- houayxai ang get the boat, or go through vientiane - louang phabang and start a shorter trip in mekong there to the north and back?
if you have any idea about how much time i'll need for this i'd be greatfull!

A bus company in Ho Chi Minh City is set to open a high-quality bus route to Cambodia’s Siem Reap province starting Feb 17, the first of its kind departing from Vietnam’s southern metro.

I'm planning a trip from Thailand to Laos and back. I'd like to enter Laos at Chong Mek and probably return from there too.

Now I hear that getting a visa on arrival for Laos at Chong Mek is no longer possible. Is this true?
And what about returning to Thailand from Laos?

Wonder if anyone can help me out. I'm on my way to Vinh and will try to cross the Laos-Vietnam border at NamCan to go to Phonsavan Laos, I'm wondering if anyone has done it and can give me some advice. Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

I intend to visit vt between mid feb andl mid mar. considering weather - where would you suggest to start the trip ? saigon - going up north to hanoi or going down hanoi - saigon? is it make much different at all
