To follow on a theme, wet and cold, wet and warm? Any informed comments welcome and appreciated.

I've got just over a week in June, and am planning on a quick stopover either in Cambodia or Laos. Will be on my own and just want to relax and hang out, and hopefully enjoy some decent food.

Choices are Cambodia or Laos. Cambodia would be somewhere other than Angkor - maybe on a beach or something? Laos would probably be in LP (not VV).

Anyone that has been to both I welcome your comments on the pros and cons of each place.

been checking the guide books, seems there isnt a direct route from the laos-cambodia border to siem reap.

my plan was gonna be to go straight from stung treng (sp? - you know where i mean) to siem reap. but it seems i may have over looked that part of things. is it true that i'm gonna have to take a loop south and comeback up to siem reap from there?

if so, doing it as quick as humanly possible, how many days do people think this loop might take?

or would the best option be to go back to bangkok…

I'm planning a quick (one week) stopover in Cambodia in June. Have no plans to visit Angkor, but otherwise I'm wide open. Looking for suggestions for a place to hang out and relax for a week. Could be a single place, or I don't mind moving around every couple days. Any magical spots people can recommend?

Thinking of a quick one or two week stopover in Sihanoukville in June. Never been, but been to the beaches in Thailand many times. I've heard Sihanoukville isn't as nice as Thailand's beaches, but would like an update from anyone that has been there in the last year or so.

So, the good, the bad and the ugly - what's it like? How's the sand? Water? Food? Drinking? Nightlife? Activities?

Any thoughts are welcome.

Im off to Lao via the friendship bridge from Thailand, does anyone know how much a 15 day visa is at the border?

I was wondering if anyone had crossed the Na Meo/Nam Xoi border from Vietnam to Laos recently. Can you obtain a Laos visa at the border or should I arrange it in advance in Hanoi?

I'm planning to take a two week vacation in April, I am a 34 year old woman travelling alone and have never been to Asia. I need to decide on a country, I am torn between Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam....I am not planning on doing the beach or party thing. is there anywhere in hoi an that will arrange return train tickets from danang? the tourist info doesnt, and all the travel agents ive been to can arrange a one wayt, but not a same day return (???)
the official vietnam train website seems to be no help either.
can you only do it by going all the way back to danang and going to the train station?
