Good evening,
Please be so kind to recommend a budget hotel/hostel in Yangoon. What part of town do you recommend staying-center city?
Any advice regarding travel to Yangoon from the airport, I arrive late in the evening.
In advance.
Thank you.
Eric
Hello all,
We would like to arrive to Phu Quoc Island by slow ferry at Da Chong and then make our way to Ong Lang using collective type transport rather than a taxi. Is this possible? Is one highly limited to getting around by taxi on the island ?
Thanks for any replies.
Lonely Planet’s new edition is not very informative when it comes to moving around the city by bus, which is, by far, the cheapest option (if you care a bit for your budget and do not mind walking a bit to get to the right bus stand).
Any site can be reached by bus, although it is true that some research needs to be done. I am surprised how little information is provided by LP, showing clearly how the focus is not on the shoestring traveler anymore. A pitty.

Hey guys,
So in February of 2019 I'll be flying out to Ho Chi Minh City and spending 12 months traveling through Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia (and potentially Philippines depending on budget).
I'll spend 2-3 months in Vietnam & Thailand and 1-2 months in each of the other countries.
I am planning to buy a motorbike when I arrive in Ho Chi Minh and ride it through most of my journey (probably have to leave it behind/sell it in Malaysia due to Indonesia being mostly…
Ok, for anyone travelling South from Hoi Ann to Saigon via Nha Trang and infact anyone travelling North the other way. We have just experienced one hell of a route the surpasses the Hai Van Pass and is equal to The Amalfi Coast roads.
We spent 2 nights in Tuy Hoa on our journey south and rather than head to Nha Trang via the AH1 we followed the Q29 coast road for around 50km before joining the AH1.
It is absolutely outstanding, you follow the Q29 past secludrd accessible beach coves, past the…
I apologize that I am posting a question that has already been asked. However, the previous threads that discuss this question were all inconclusive and are outdated, so I'm hoping that by starting a new thread I can get some more recent and accurate information.
As the subject implies, the Vietnam e-visa application requires the applicant to specific a specific port of entry and port of exit. But what if my travel plans are flexible? I'll be coming from Laos and want the flexibility to cross…
We will be in VIetnam in Feb/Mar 2019 and I would like to visit the Paradise Caves. Is it best to stay in Nam Binh to visit the caves or would Hue be better? Trying to decide on 2 nights Nam Binh and 1 night Hue or 3 nights Hue. Thank for any suggestions.

Does anyone know when and where exactly does the fire dancing festival take place (should be in the provinces Ha Giang and Tuyen Quang) https://www.vietravel.com/en/cultures-and-customs/mysterious-with-the-fire-dancing-festival-v10079.aspx. Does anyone know a guide for these areas?
Hi all. LP book states that (at the time of writing) foreigners can't travel south from Dawei by land, only by boat or plane. I'm not flying on this trip. Not averse to boat journeys. But wondering if this information is still up-to-date and correct - anyone have any recent info on travelling south from Dawei by bus? I plan to cross from Kawthoung back into Thailand. Thanks in advance! :)
Hello!
My friend has a work trip to HCMC in January, and I am going to join her for a bit!
We will have a weekend free together and we really want to get out of the city and into nature.
We could leave Friday evening and need to be back Sunday evening. We were considering Cat Tien NP, but I have been reading lots of negative reviews.
Any suggestions for a weekend trip? We are happy to fly somewhere after work! Would also love suggestions for tour vendors in recommended areas!
