Hi! I'm going to be in cat ba for a few days and I plan to head to hue from there from where I'll be biking to hoi an. Can I get to hue directly from cat ba? I've seen other posts where people recommend spending a night at ninh binh, but I don't have many days to spare. I don't mind taking a bus or a train. Are there any options where I can get from cat ba to hue without changing buses/trains on the way? Thanks!

What do hotels cost in the Bui Vien area of HCMC these days? Last time I was there in 2005 they were $8 to $15 per night. Something like that. Might go there this summer.

I’ll be traveling with a group of families (15-20 people) next summer, and would like to find hotel or resort on the beach which can accomodate all of us. We’d prefer to find something on the quieter side if possible, so if we can avoid the beaches in central Da Nang, that would be nice. Angsana Lang Co and Son Tra Resort look nice and within our budget (less than $200).

Any other suggestions?

British, French, German, Spanish and Italian tourists used not to need a visa if they stayed in Vietnam for only 15 days or less. The exemption is still valid BUT, starting 1 July 2018, it is for a stay of 30 days or less and the law is valid for **3 years ** instead of one before (new law on 1 July 2021)

My Australian partner has listed her port of entry on her evisa as Cau Treo, do we now have to go through this border to Vietnam or can we use others?

Thanks.

Hello,

My partner has been selected to take part in a study tour in Vietnam at the end of next month. This will be based in Hanoi for two weeks. We will spend another 2-2.5 weeks travelling together before he starts this. I am a bit conflicted as to how to organise our itinerary. I was initially thinking of the below:

Ho Chi Minh City (3 nights) - Mekong Delta tour (1 night/2 days) - Hoi An (4 nights) - Da Nang/Hue (3 nights) - Hanoi (1 night) - Halong Bay cruise (2 nights) - Hanoi (1 night)…

I'm a Canadian citizen attending a conference in Hue for five days in June.

  1. Based on the websites I've seen, I believe that I need a visa, but have been told by someone who knows Vietnam well that I may not now. If the latter is correct, can anyone point me to an official page documenting this?

  2. If I need a visa, I'd like to get a "visa on arrival". Can I do this at Phu Bai airport? If so, can anyone recommend a service?

Thank you,

Colin

Hi,

I’m just wondering what the best way is to visit Bach Ma national park and Phong Nah (caves). There are four of us and we’re heading to Hue today. Is it easy to go to these places by yourself from Hue or should we book a tour? Also would we need to come back to Hue after Bach Ma or would it be possible to combine the two places? We’re happy to stay overnight if there are accommodation options. Any advice would be great.

Thanks!

Hello,

First off, I’ve read varied reports of guide necessary and not necessary for solo hikers in the park, so would like to confirm I can hike alone through he park.

Secondly, I’m staying where most people end the hike at Lan Hai Homestay and wondered if there is there an entrance gate at this end of the park. I ask because I’d also like to do part of the hike after dusk and wondered if I’d encounter a guard, closed gate, etc.

Thanks!
