my husband and I and our two boys are considering applying for a position in education in ho chi minh city
we are australian citizens
living and working in HCMC would that be a good experience for us as a family
the boys are 12 and 10
we lived in the solomon islands for 10 years until we were evacuated due to the political situation a few years ago
we have been back in australia and now keen to live offshore again

Planning a cycle trip to Vietnam and know very little about what the country is like to gete around. What are the roads, traffic and directions like in the country? What is the weather like around christmas time? Any thing else worth knowing about cycling in Vietnam?

otherwise if i book through a travel agent in my home town are they able to get me pacific airlines fares instead of vietnam airlines and is this much cheaper?

I left my scuba certification and dive log in the US, and I'd like to have my roommate ship it to me (DHL) in Nha Trang, but I don't have a hotel reservation there, and a contact in Vietnam thinks it's not safe to ship to a smaller hotel. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can have something (small, the size of a DHL envelope) shipped to Nha Trang, to pick up when I arrive several days later?

Otherwise, if I can't work this out, does anyone know if I can dive without my SSI card?

Just wondering if you can get a 30 day visa for Vietnam at the border when you go in? Or do you have to get it ahead of time. We are in Laos right now and Had planned to go to cambodia first, but now we have met some people and intend to go Vietnam first instead. If it's not possible at the border anyone have any experience with getting a Vietnam visa in Laos??
