I'm new in this forum but I decided to subscribe because I think it's really well done...

I started a new topic cause I'd like to know whether there is someone who went to Vietnam visiting the memories of the war.
I was planning to have a trip there but first I'd prefer to have some informations, expecially on "war tours" because I'm deeply interested in.

Is there someone who can give me any suggestion??

Just wanted to let you know a bit of information on the trains in Vietnam...

I yesterday got into Hanoi from Nga Trang (24 hours) on what has to be the worst journey i have ever taken by train.
Frist of all i thought i would cut out the middle man by buying straight from the station, not so.. they did'nt want to sell me tickets i knew they had, soft sleeper, air con for some unknown reason. (I'd checked with an agent 10 mins before,) this ment i had to go back and pay the comission at the agent…

I have a flight that goes through Ho Chi Mihn air port. I have 8 hours until I depart again. Any suggestions about shopping or eating in that window of time? Im not sure how far things are from the airport but I would like to get away for about 5 hours. I have never been to Vietnam so any helpful tips would be great. Cheers.

I have read many posts on this forum about tailors in Hoi An. I am getting the following made- work suits and trousers, evening dresses, casual skirts and tops and a coat. I’m interested in using a few of the TT posters’ recommended tailors – Yaly, B'Lan, Ha Phuong. I would like to know if certain tailors specialise in certain garments eg are saome better at evening dresses and others at suits?

We will also go to Hong Kong soon. If anyone has been there can you tell me how the tailors compare in…

Hi - Sorry if this has been asked before but here goes. Wandering aroung Hoi An I've seen some lovely shops particularly laquerware and jewellery. I would rather hold off on any shopping until near the end of our trip in either Hanoi or HCMC. Will I be able find the same sort of products as to what is available in Hoi An? Thanks in advance....

Three weeks ago my 65 year old mother was attacked with a knife by a woman working for a
clothing-shop at the corner of Nhi Trung St. and Tran Hung Dao St just because she didn't like
and therefor didn't want to buy one of the five dresses she had bought. The situation was horrible

I am planning to travel though China and into Vietnam later this year. At the moment it looks like I will be arriving in Vietnam at the end of November, and will travel down through the country, and then into Cambodia at the beginning of January. So it looks like I will have Christmas and New Year in Vietnam!

Would be difficult to take boats from PP all the way to Vinh Long in a single day without too much stress and/or arriving late at night? I read on the Cambodian tourism website that the Hang Chau Boat company offers $15 boat departing PP at 9am and arriving in Chau Doc at 2pm. Are there frequent boats from onward to Cantho or Vinh Long (and how long does it take Chau Doc->Cantho or Cantho->Vinh Long)?
