Hello!

I am traveling solo in Vietnam right now and planning to do a trip in the Ha Giang province in about 10 days. My choice went to the Ha Giang Province rather than Sapa because I heard it's less much touristy. I was planning to arrive there, find a guide on a motorcycle and travel about 3 days in the region. But I heard it can be difficult to just arrive there and find someone on the spot that knows the area well enough and that can communicate with the minority local people. I was…

I'm a Canadian (Canadians required purchased visas for Vietnam)
I am currently in Hoi An and my 1 month (multiple entry) visa expires April 1st.
The problem is my flight was moved and now leaves APRIL 5th... so I need an extra 4 days on my VISA.
Sigh.
I was told by another traveller that I could get a visa extension at the police station/immigration office in HoiAn for $20 US. Unfortunately, the police sent me to visit an international travel agency and they want to sell me a 4 days extension for…

hi all,
i live in aussie and i am doing a trip through se.asia. the visa fees here in aussie are 95AUD or 72 USD for a 30 tourist visa.
i Read a quick post on another website https://www.travelfish.org/visas/vietnam about getting it in jakarta.
it is only 25usd in jakarta for a 30 day visa
does anyone have experience with this? will there be alot of language difficulty or other complications?
thank you

We are intending to visit the north of Vietnam in May. We think that we will visit Hanoi- Halong-Sapa during 3 weeks. We heard that Mai Chau of Vietnam in May is beautiful, so it is worth to add Mai Chau into our itinerary? and how long we should spend in Mai Chau as well as how to get there?
P/s: we are a family with 2 kids (12 yrs old and 10 yrs old)
Thanks a lot

Hey,
I'm going to Vietnam for 2 weeks in August, we have booked our flight back to London from Hanoi, but since we are already in SE Asia, we haven't book our flight to the country yet. My question is whether to fly to HCMC and travel up, or whether to just cut out the south altogether and focus on the north/mid vietnem.

Halong bay is top of our to do list, and I think 2 nights there would be preferable, Hoi An for 3 nights has also been recommended. I'm not bothered about beaches, so this is…

2: if we do go to Hanoi first , where would we catch an easy transfer…

Hi,

Just wanted to know if anybody has a recent update on the fines for overstaying the free 15 day visa for some nationalities, by 24-48 hours. Posts from a year or two ago suggest that it was around $25 per day and was considered to be acceptable by the authorities, with no complications.

Thanks, in advance, for any up to date advice on the matter.
