Hey everyone.
I am looking at traveling vietnam solo in October but don't know if it's best to go North and south starting in Hanoi and ending in ho chi Minh city? Or the other way around? Does it matter?
Advice/opinions are appreciated
Thank you x

Have done both ways in the middle of the year and much if a muchness. Weather otherwise could be a consideration.

It may depend where you are coming from as to whether Hanoi or Saigon is easier to fly into. Or if you plan to enter or depart overland rather than fly. It doesn't matter which way you go through Vietnam, but the weather varies a lot from north to south, and if staying for a month you may want to plan around trying to avoid/minimise bad weather if possible.

I agree with the above... I did Vietnam north to south last October and just missed a few storms as I went south. plus it was easy to get into cambodia after.

You can land in Noi Bai international airport (Hanoi) to travel around Hanoi and surrounding areas. Coming back Hanoi, you take a flight to HCMC. In October, the weather in Hanoi is quite cold while there're much rain in HCMC. Additionally, you shouldn't visit the Central Vietnam at this time because flood and storms may attack this region.

To start with, NO center (Hoi An and Hue), it's typhoons and big floods season. START WITH THE NORTH, excellent month for the mountains. As for the programme, impossible to say without knowing how many days you stay in Vietnam

In the North, Ha Giang, Moc Chau, Mai Chau and Sapa have breathtaking landscape in October. You can have a trek in these places. In HCMC, there will be much rain from day to day. Each time of rain, it lasts from 1 to 2 hours.

You can go from north to south, or south to north
It depends on your travel date
Maybe, airlines will give you the better price for check in hanoi, and check out ho chi minh city, you can check airfares with airlines :)
How many days you have in vietnam
Have a nice trip
